Techem is one of the leading providers of services and products for green and smart buildings. The company has recently made efforts to digitize home insulation billing systems and has started experimenting with new applications for managing heat in smart homes. The systems developed on this basis are to first hit the German market. Then expansion to other European countries is planned.

Many Techem customers want to calculate the heat demand of their home and choose the optimal heating system on their own. Internal company applications for designing the heating systems were outdated and required Windows XP to run. Both technicians and Techem partners did not have the tools to design a heating system „in the field” at the customer’s site.
The existing software was first installed on Windows XP to analyze its functionality. Next, the old and new systems had to be integrated so that the customer calculations could be immediately sent to Techem’s partners. The website for the customer and service technicians was developed using full responsiveness technologies (RWD) in accordance with the atomic design methodology. A/B tests of the new views were conducted. The improved system for settling heating costs and designing installations has been very positively received by Techem’s customers and partners.
